I have just discovered the joy of running! I am fortunate
to have several friends who are great runners including an elegant and
vivacious lady who, at the age of fifty ( looking forty), just ran the
Boston Marathon, and a good friend in his 60's who has competed in 13 marathons
and many running events. At the bottom of this page I have some more info
about myself and my quest to become a runner. However, although I have
just started running and know very little about it, I have found some great
links for running! (written Spring of 1998)

Cool Running - The title says it all. A great site with lots of info and great style!
Runners World - The definitive magazine with latest information and quality articles!
Dead Runners Society - Great tongue-in-cheek discussion group with broad national appeal - they recently met in St. Louis, MO.
St. Louis Dead Runners - The name says it all - St. Louis branch of the Deads! A fun group and active group.
Hal Higdon Books - Hal Higdon's page with his books on running and training.
Although I have been active for many years, walking (but not jogging or running), cycling, playing tennis and golf, I have never been fit enough to run. Thanks to a friend, I have lost about 20 pounds, and improved my conditioning. On March 20, 1998, I ran my first mile since High School (class of '61). I am now hooked, but I am incredibly slow and need to alternate my running or jogging with periods of walking. I am trying desperately to get to the level where I can run continuously for 3 or more miles, but I am finding it very difficult to improve much. Although, I play a quite a bit of competive tennis, I still find I have trouble trying to run for a sustained distance - a mile or more!
If you have any suggestions or critique for this page, please let me know! Further, I would appreciate any, and all help or suggestions concerning running or training that might help me improve. tomcram@accessus.net
