Notebook Requirements
For Mrs. Bradley’s English Classes
Your notebook has three purposes:
1. It will record your assignments and lecture notes. If you are absent, borrow the notes of a responsible classmate.
2. Your notebook will serve as a storage area for all of the handouts I give you throughout the year (and I give a lot of handouts!). You will also keep all of your graded work here too. Remember, if there is a discrepancy in your grade at the end of the quarter/semester, you have to prove to me that the grade should be changed.
3. Lastly, you will get to use your notebook on your semester tests. Your semester test will cover everything that we do in class during each semester. That will be a lot for you to remember for your semester test, but if you have kept your notebook then you should do fine.
Notebook format for Mrs. Bradley:
1. All notebooks will be collected before the end of the semester and graded as a test grade (if you keep this notebook organized, you will receive an easy 100 points!).
2. Only 3 ring binder notebooks are practical because they allow adding material such as handouts and returned quizzes.
3. To receive a grade, a notebook must have all of the following material as specified before collection date.
4. Your notebook should be divided into the following categories in the order below by using divider tabs:
Categories for Divider Tabs:
·
Class notes DATED AND LABELED and
listed in chronological order.
·
Graded papers such as quizzes and other
miscellaneous assignments – in chronological order. This includes all graded papers except your tests.
·
Tests – in chronological order
·
Handouts – in chronological order
· Writing assignments such as essays, portfolios, short stories, etc. – in chronological order
5. All materials must be unfolded and attached to the notebook with the 3 rings (I have a 3-hole punch if you’d like to borrow it).
6. No loose collection of papers, file folders or other make-shift notebooks will be accepted. No materials are to be stored in the textbook.
The following scale will be used in evaluating notebooks:
It is very important for you to keep all papers unless you are told they are not required for your notebook. Never throw away any assignment, handout, etc. without checking with me first.
