King Arthur Creative Project

In order to demonstrate your understanding of the Arthurian legend, you will each attempt to obtain knighthood. To become a knight, you must design a shield to represent your service to the kingdom.

I am going to give each of you a shield on a piece of typing paper and a piece of construction paper. You will need to trace your shield onto the construction paper and cut it out.

There will be four sections to your shield. The directions for your shield are:

  1. Divide your shield into four sections. Each section should be close to the same size.
  2.

  3. Choose two colors for your shield.
  4.

  5. Place the shield sections onto your shield. Once you have the shield sections in place you are ready to detail each section.
  6.

  7. In one section write your name and the meaning of your name. You will use a baby name book for this. Then in this same section draw a picture (you can draw an original picture or use computer clipart) that represents some aspect of your name.
  8.

  9. In another section draw a picture that represents your future plans or career choice.
  10.

  11. In another section draw a picture that represents something you love (a hobby for example).
  12.

  13. In the last section draw something that you believe in.
  14.

  15. Down or across the center of your shield you should write your motto. For example, your motto might be, "To protect all in my country." Remember, your motto is from the standpoint of a knight.
  16.

  17. The last thing you need to do is write an explanation of each item on your shield. Glue this to the back of your shield.
