My Favorite Scene

My favorite scene in the book is where Romeo and Juliet meet on the balcony. In

this scene they meet for only the second time.Juliet does not realize it is Romeo until he

refers to her as a saint. They talk for a while and learn that they are hopelessly in love

with each other.Near the end of the scene Juliet somewhat proposes marriage to Romeo.

She tells Romeo she will send a messenger out to Romeo to find out where to meet him.

The reason I liked this scene so much is that it was the peak of the sub-plot.It

also demonstrates how much Shakespeare regards love and fate. This scene also shows

love at first site, and I think that can truly happen in real life.I also like how love is

regarded as a person, not just a word.It is also very nice how they confess the love to

each other.Instead of it being just I love you,It was very in-depth and very passionate.

That is why I like this scene so much.

The New Ending

I believe that this play should have ended something like this:

Act 5

Scene 1

Balthasar:Oh Romeo, I have an urgent message to deliver to you from the Friar.

Romeo: Well spit it out Balthasar.

Balthasar: Juliet took sleeping potion to escape being married to Paris. She now lays asleep in the Capulet tomb. You are to return to Verona and take Juliet from the tomb and then return back to Mantua.

Romeo: I always knew my Juliet had a few tricks up her sleeve.Well we must hurry to Verona, let’s go.

(They rich the edge of Verona)

Romeo: Balthasar, go to the Friar and tell him that I am going to get Juliet.

Balthasar:Very well Romeo, but be careful.

(Romeo heads off to the Capulet tomb, When he arrives Paris walks up behind Romeo while trying to remove the door to the tomb)

Paris:Romeo! What are you doing!

Romeo: Trying to dig out my beautiful bride, Paris

Paris: Your bride? What are you talking about? For one she is dead and second your not married to her.

Romeo:O, she isn’t dead and she is married to me so stick that in your pipe and smoke it you idiot.

Paris:You will know die for that one!

(A fight ensues and Paris is stabbed with Romeo’s dagger)

Romeo:Sorry Paris but you shouldn’t have challenged me.

(Romeo opens the tomb and finds Juliet laying there asleep)

Romeo:Wake up, Wake up my beautiful Juliet.

Juliet: Oh Romeo,I knew you would come back to me.

Romeo: Juliet I couldn’t have lived without you .

Juliet: I am just glad that Balthasar got the message to you.

Romeo:We must go now, soldiers are coming but we will talk later.

(They leave in a hurry to go to see the Friar)

Friar Lawrence: I’m so glad that you two found each other.Did the soldier see you?

Romeo:Yes I think they did.

Friar Lawrence: Well then you must hurry off.I hope that you will be happywith your new life together in Mantua.

Juliet:You have been so much help to the both of us.

Friar Lawrence:Well be gone then.

Romeo & Juliet together: Thank you,Goodbye.

(They ride off together just before the soldiers get there, and that concludes the play)

Romeo & Juliet: Winners or Losers

In the play I believe that they both won and lost.Although they both died they

left behind a valuable lesson. That nothing can stand in the way of love. There families

probably stopped fighting in the end, I would have. Most people would think that just

since they died they lost, but not me.They sacrificed themselves for love, as long as its

true love. They did die and that’s bad but it did teach something, and that’s good.Well I

guess its just a win-lose situation.

The Letter

Dear Romeo,

I have something very important to tell you.Juliet is not dead.Disregard what

Balthasar says. She drank some sleeping potion to fake being dead. She did this to avoid

being forced to marry Paris. Her hoax was successful. Her father and mother laid her to

rest in the Capulet tomb.I know that Balthasar will come to you and tell you Juliet is

dead, but he doesn’t know about the plan.Just come back to Verona.Once you arrive go

to the Capulet tomb and retrieve your wife Juliet. When you get there she may not be

awake yet but be patient, she’ll awake soon. That is all I have to say.Come see me after

you have Juliet back.

Sincerely,

Friar Lawrence

What Will Romeo Miss

Since Romeo took his own life I believe he will miss the following things:

Being with his family.

Being with his friends.

Living with Juliet.

Growing up.

Never really getting the most from his life.

The things that he might have done.

His mother and father.

The parties he would have gone to.

The feeling of the warm sun

Friar Laurence.

These are the things that I think he ill miss the most.Although there may be more than this these are the major ones.

Romeo and Juliet Quotes

Act 2

Scene 2

Line 35-38

Who said it: Juliet

Romeo! Romeo! Why are you Romeo? Reject your father and refuse his name.

Or if you will not, just swear to be my love, and I will no longer be a Capulet.

This quote is probably my favorite in the whole book.To me it is the peak of the sub-plot in the movie. It sows just how much Shakespeare regards love.It is also one of the most passionate parts in the play. That is why I like this quote so much.It shows just how much Romeo and Juliet love each other.

Act 2

Scene 2

Line 40-51

Who said it: Juliet

Not you, but only your family name is my enemy. You could be Romeo even if you were not a Montague. What is a Montague? It’s not a hand or a foot, an arm or a face, or any other part of a man’s body.O, take some other name! What’s in a name? The thing we call a rose would smell just as sweet if it had any other name.So Romeo-even if he weren’t called Romeo-would be just as perfect without his name.Romeo, get rid of your name, and in place of that name, which isn’t part of you, take me.

This quote is important because Juliet, to me, is pretty much telling Romeo that she will give herself to her.I also think that this is one of the best examples of a soliloquy in the book. This quote pretty much sets the love in motion. After it is said they get married very quickly. That is why I believe this quote is very important.

Act 2

Scene 2

Line 196-199

Who said it: Juliet

Sweetheart, so do I.Yet if you were my bird, I’d kill you for to much love.Good night, good night!Parting is such sweet sorrow that I say good night through tomorrow.

I’m not sure this quote has any real significance, I just like it.I think it really shows how in love Juliet really is.Although Romeo might not be Juliet is.Also I think it just sounds smooth.

Act 3

Scene 1

Line 65

Who said it:Mercutio

What a calm, dishonorable, disgusting submission to an insult!

In this quote Mercutio sets in motion a chain of events that kills Tybalt, kills Mercutio, and gets Romeo banished from Verona. It also somewhat leads to the death of Romeo and Juliet.

Act 3

Scene 1

Line 96-99

Who said it: Mercutio

Help me into the house Benvolio, or I’ll faint.Damn both of your houses! They have made a corpse of me.I’ve had it!Damn your houses!

I think this quote because somebody finally wakes up.Nobody but Benvolio has realized how stupid the fighting is.Now that Mercutio is on his deathbed he finally realizes how stupid he was. They were so bent on hating each other for no reason it takes dying to figure that out. That’s stupid to me.

Act 3

Scene 3

Line 18-24

Who said it: Romeo

There’s no world outside Verona! There’s only purgatory, torture, and hell itself! To be banished from Verona is to be banished from the world, and exile from the world is death! So to be banished means death, in other words.By saying death is banishment, you cut off my head with a golden axe, and smile upon my murder.

This important to the book because Romeo truly proving that he loves Juliet. He would rather be dead than to be banished from Juliet. To be banished from Verona he was banishedfrom Juliet and that is killing.Mainly it is important because it sets the tragedy into motion.

Act 3

Scene 3

Line 139

Who said it:Friar Lauwrence

Wake up man! Your Juliet is alive!

This quote is very important. Finally someone is telling Romeo to stop whining about everything.Ever since the play started Romeo has done nothing but complain and cry about everything.Juliet is still alive , she isn’t dead so shut-up and go spend the night with your wife.Deal with what happens later after tonight and don’t worry about it.

Act 3

Scene 5

Line125-127

Who said it: Juliet

And when I do get married, it will be to Romeo, whom you know I hate, rather than to Paris.

I like this quote because Juliet is practicaly telling her mother that she wants to marry Romeo. But Lady Capulet is to blind to see what her daughter is telling her.Its also important to the play in the way that Juliet is telling her mother that she does not want to marry Paris. This is her first sign of disobedience during the whole play.

Act 5

Scene 1

Line 17-24

Who said it: Balthasar

Then she is well, so nothing can be bad.Her body sleeps in Capulet’stomb, and her soul is with the angels.I saw her laid down in her ancestors vault, and I immediately hired horses to ride her and tell you. O, forgive me for bringing this bad news, since you made it my duty, sir.

This quote tells Romeo that Juliet is dead, that is its importance.Juliet is not really dead but Romeo now thinks she is.This causes Romeo to go by poison and kill himself at Juliet’s feet.

Act 5

Scene 3

Line 174-176

Noise! Then I’ll be brief. What luck---a dagger! This is your holder.Rest there and let me die.

This is the ending of the sub-plot.Juliet wakes up to find Romeo dead so she takes his dagger and kills herself. This means the ending of a sweeping love story.

Juliet’s Scrapbook

This picture will remind Juliet of how stubborn her father was about her marrying Paris. He just wouldn’t budge on the subject.

This picture would remind Juliet of the night that Romeo climbed up the balcony to see her the first time.I t would also remind her of her honeymoon.

This picture would tell her of how little time they had together before she had to marry Paris. The hourglass was running very quickly.

When looking at this it will shoe her how angry she was when she heard that Romeo killed Tybalt and when her nurse said to marry Paris.

This would tell her how split her life was.Night meant good and that she could be with Romeo.Day, however meant she had to be separated from him.

Romeo’s Scrapbook

This picture to me represents Romeo’s emotions throughout the play.He goes from happy one moment to sad back to happy. He would save this to remind him of how he was as a teenager.

He would have taken this picture with him to remind him of how he met Juliet at the party. It would always remind him of the love of his life.

This picture would remind Romeo of how he had to climb the wall to meet Juliet. It would tell him of when they met and when he went to see her after the fight.

This picture will tell him about the time he defeated the great fighter Tybalt was.It will also remind him about how he avenged Mercutio’s death.

This picture would remind him of how he felt when he heard Juliet was dead.It would also remind him of how sad he was when Rosaline broke his heart.
